Facilities & amenities

Pinewoods has been welcoming holidaymakers to the beauty of the North Norfolk coast for over 60 years. Our unique site lies behind the pine-topped sand dunes of stunning Wells beach and nestles on the edge of the Holkham National Nature Reserve. We’re just a short walk from the bustling historic port of Wells-next-the-Sea, and an hour’s drive away from the vibrant city of Norwich.

Pinewoods offers a wide range of static caravans and lodges for holiday hire, as well as expansive pitches for touring caravans and motorhomes. Holiday homes are available for purchase if you find that Norfolk is your home away from home. Our site is easily accessible and has modern facilities.

A stone’s throw from the beach and in the heart of an area rich in attractions and diverse in nature, Pinewoods is the perfect base for traditional family holidays that are full of life. Beach huts are also available for hire to make your beach days extra special.

Take a look around

Shop

Our on-site shop is well-stocked with provisions including toiletries, groceries, cold-drinks and beers, wines and spirits. The shop is open between 15th March and 31st October. Daily opening times vary according to season and are displayed by the entrance door. Timings can be found on our Things to Know page.

Launderette

Our launderettes are located on the main Park and on the Touring Field, and they have large washers and dryers. Tokens to use them are available from main reception.

Children’s playground

Somewhere safe to let off steam; our safely enclosed on-site play area is designed for children under 16 years of age.

Miniature railway

We have our own railway station behind reception, from where the 10¼” gauge Wells Harbour Railway operates a regular service into Wells town.

Please note this service usually runs school holidays and peak season weekends only and this is not guaranteed. This is operated by a partner and their timetable is displayed at both stations.

The lake

Once open to the sea, Abraham’s Bosom is now a unique enclosed brackish water lagoon in the centre of the park and situated in a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). This area is maintained for wildlife to encourage a range of species to flourish. If you would like to explore the area, there is a beautiful boardwalk accessed from the west of the Lake.

Beach Road café and shop

This fantastic café in the main beach car park serves light meals and snacks as well as ice creams, drinks and beach goods. It’s dog friendly and is run by our colleagues at Holkham Estate.

Beach Road walk

The easy, flat walk along the Beach Road sea wall into Wells town is a must-do during your stay at Pinewoods. An early morning stroll or an amble back home in the evening taking in all the sights and sounds of the channel and the marshes takes about 20 minutes.

The path is located on a sea defence which is not lit. Torches will be required after dark.

Cycling

Pinewoods is a great base for cycling as it sits on the Wells and Holkham circuit, part of the Norfolk Coast Cycleway. Lots of off-road tracks offer traffic-free cycling and there are miles of quiet country lanes inland.

A big bonus is that Norfolk is famously flat, so you won’t have to huff and puff up too many hills! Bikes can be hired per day within Holkham Park and is a great way to explore Holkham and the surrounding area.

Award winning

We hold a Visit England 5-star award and a David Bellamy Conservation Gold award.

We’re also proud holders of a 2019 Platinum Loo Of The Year Award for our facilities exclusively for tourers on the Horse Paddock touring park.
