Family caravan holiday in Norfolk: Where to stay this Easter

We might be biased (okay, we are!), but here at Pinewoods Holiday Park we think we’re the best option for families wanting to spend the Easter holidays in North Norfolk.

Why?

– We’re right by one of the best beaches in the country
– We’re in a town full of family-friendly (and dog-friendly) places to enjoy
– We’re close to several fantastic attractions
– We offer a range of accommodation options too

Take a look at where you could stay:

Caravan holiday homes

Our selection of caravan holiday homes offers something for everyone, with various specs and sizes to choose from. They all sleep up to six or eight people and there are dog-friendly options if you’d like to bring your pup along. Our Park and Beach collections are contemporary and cleverly laid out caravans perfect for families, and our Lakeside range is higher-end with beautiful views over Abraham’s Bosom’s Lake. Check out the range here.

Luxury lodges

Looking for something larger and more luxurious? Check out our luxury lodges for your family holiday this Easter. Sleeping up to six or seven, these dog-friendly lodges are in a particularly scenic area of the holiday park and are approximately twice the size of a caravan holiday home, meaning even more space to have fun.

Our touring park for caravans, motorhomes and campers

Have you got a caravan, campervan or motorhome? If so, book a pitch on Spoonbill Drift, our touring park with 116 pitches, each with electricity, water and grey water waste points as standard. You’ll benefit from award-winning facilities, stunning views over the Holkham National Nature Reserve towards Wells-next-the-Sea, and a beautifully natural site.

Family caravan holiday in Norfolk: Things to do this Easter

Perhaps you’ve never been to North Norfolk, or maybe you have but want to see more of this incredible region of the UK. Either way, here are some of our team’s top suggestions for things to do this Easter while on your family caravan holiday at Pinewoods in Wells-next-the-Sea.

Head to the beach

No family holiday at Pinewoods is complete without at least one visit to Wells Beach and the neighbouring Holkham Beach, considered two of the best beaches in the UK.

We can’t promise it’ll be sunny enough for a swim or paddle, or breezy enough for flying kites, but we can promise that going to the beach is always a good idea. Whether you need sun cream and shades or a warm coat this Easter, a family trip to the beach can create amazing memories you’ll remember for years to come.

Worried about the weather? Hire a beach hut from us at Pinewoods and enjoy some shelter from those pesky April showers. Plus, find deckchairs and a windbreak inside too.

Go seal spotting

Seal boat trips are one of the best things to do in North Norfolk year-round, and at Pinewoods, we’re lucky to be only a few miles away from the biggest grey seal colony in the UK.

Take a short bus trip or drive to Morston and enjoy a boat ride out to Blakeney Point. There, you’ll see a huge seal colony (a whopping 4,500 pups are born each winter). Spot them as they pop their heads out of the water, or watch as they bask in the sun on the sand. It’s sure to be a memorable experience this Easter.

Seal trips from Morston are run by several operators, listed below. Please direct questions to them and book your boat trip in advance.

Rainy day attractions in Norfolk

Let’s be honest, April showers are likely this Easter break. While our caravan holiday homes at Pinewoods offer ample room to cosy inside when it’s raining and play games as a family, we know it’s often more fun to head out and discover somewhere new.

With that in mind, here are a few attractions that are ideal for those rainy days:

Wells Maltings – a cultural centre in the heart of Wells with an exhibition and gallery. It also shows films and theatre productions (and is a great spot for a cuppa!)
Pensthorpe’s Hootz House – indoor play adventure
Cromer Museum – exhibitions and exhibits about Cromer and Norfolk’s history, including about the remains of a woolly mammoth found in West Runton
Shell Museum, Glandford – inspire your children to start their own shell collection
Gressenhall Farm and Workhouse – learn about workhouse life and visit a working farm

Egg-citing Easter events near Pinewoods

There are plenty of events for families taking place this Easter in North Norfolk. Here are some we’ve picked out…

Enjoy Easter at Holkham

Easter 2025 at Holkham is shaping up to be egg-cellent! Holkham is around 2.5 miles from Pinewoods.

Head to the Spring Market (18th-20th April 2025) and browse over 50 stalls with a range of local produce, crafts, art and more. Food and drink pop-ups will be there too. Find out more.

Children and families will love The Easter Garden (in Holkham’s Walled Garden from Friday 18th to Monday 21st April 2025), where you’ll find cute and curious animals, a ‘sow and grow’ activity, storytelling, games and chocolate treats too.

If you’re visiting during the Easter holidays but are looking for activities before the long weekend, try Holkham’s Egg Hunt Trail (5th-17th April 2025). Take a walk around the stunning parkland as you crack codes and earn a reward.

Cycle hire and the ropes course will both be open daily over the Easter holidays too (weather dependent) and are a fun-filled family activity!

Easter at Blickling Hall

National Trust’s Blickling Hall (22 miles from Pinewoods) has several Easter activities and games to enjoy from 5th-22nd April 2025. Their Easter trail includes bunny ears and a chocolate egg too! Plus, Blickling is a glorious place to explore in the springtime, with beautiful spring blooms popping up all over.

Family caravan holiday in Norfolk: Where to eat this Easter

Fish & chips on Good Friday

Did you know that it’s tradition to eat fish rather than meat on Good Friday? With not one but two excellent fish and chip shops on Wells quay, just a mile’s walk from Pinewoods, you can do just that! Both French’s and Plattens offer delicious fish, chips, sides and sauces that you can eat in, enjoy by the quayside, or bring it back to your caravan holiday home at Pinewoods.

French’s offer gluten-free and vegan options too.

A Sunday roast on Easter Sunday

Why not add a gorgeous roast dinner to your Easter weekend?

Of course, you could cook one yourself in the fully fitted kitchen in your caravan holiday home, but we’d recommend visiting one of the local pubs or restaurants for your roast.

Tie yours in with a walk and Holkham’s Easter activities by booking lunch at The Victoria, a double AA Rosette awarded restaurant at the gates to Holkham Park. They’ve recently extended their Sunday lunch service and offer a range of roasts and other marvellous mains, including vegetarian and vegan options, all created using local, seasonal goodness (including meat and veg from the Holkham estate — it doesn’t get much more local than that!).

Alternatively, stay in Wells and perhaps head to The Globe on The Buttlands where you’ll find a variety of roasts, sharing platters and other mains too. Again, there are plenty of options for different dietary requirements so you’re bound to find something to enjoy.

Easter weekend is likely to be busy, so book in advance!

Other places to eat

Wells-next-the-Sea and the local area offer so many fantastic cafés, restaurants, pubs and coffee shops, so you certainly won’t go hungry here!

We love heading to the Beach Café for a refreshment before or after time on the beach or to pick up an evening pizza to take back to your caravan.

In Wells town, you can buy delicious pastries from Two Magpies Bakery, treat yourselves to lunch at Bang in Wells or Wells Deli, or enjoy a bite to eat in a beer garden if the weather’s good at one of several pubs. The pizzas at Flour are delicious, too.
