Holkham Hall & Estate

Staying at Pinewoods means you are close to all the attractions at Holkham Estate and can experience the spectacular landscape.

The Palladian grandeur of Holkham Hall is exceptional, rich in history, architecture and wildlife. The seat of the Earls of Leicester, this elegant 18th century mansion is still very much a lived-in family home which the family take pride in sharing with visitors.

A visit to Holkham Hall is a day out in itself. The Hall and it’s Park are open to the public and also include the Holkham Stories Experience, Café and the gift shop. The Walled Garden is worth a special visit and can be accessed on the Buggy Tour from the Ticket Office. The hall is set in a stunning and thriving 25,000 acre estate. The sweeping park that surrounds the hall is home to a large herd of Fallow Deer that roam freely. You can walk through the park and around the impressive lake where a Nature Trail and Quiz features 28 stops explaining interesting facts about the diversity of the flora and fauna in the Park, from dragonflies to barn owls or you can take the Tractor Trailer Tour to learn about the farming heritage of Holkham.

The grounds are a regular venue for special events from small children’s plays to the bi-annual Holkham Country Fair and large open-air concerts. For families there is a Woodland play area, high-ropes course and cycle and boat hire.
