WONDERful wildlife day

Join us for a day of fun free family activities designed to help you learn about the WONDERful wildlife we have across the park, how we are boosting biodiversity and inspire little minds!

From ponding dipping to planting, deer to decoupage there’s something for everyone, have a browse of our events schedule and see what takes your fancy!

Reception Courtyard

Marvellous moths

10am – 12am 

Join Senior Nature Reserve Wardens Andy and Paul along with Pinewoods Warden Moff to discover what landed in our moth traps overnight.

Investigating butterflies and moths

10am – 12noon

Explore our meadows to see what calls them home. Collect butterfly catching packs from the Reception Courtyard, walk the meadows and return with your finds to be identified by one of our nature experts.

Buzzing bees

10am – 3 pm

Visit our hives with our beekeeper to learn more about how bees make honey. There will be a hive on display in the Reception Courtyard and a chance to sample various honeys with the opportunity to purchase via the Pinewoods store. Catherine our beekeeper will be available to answer all of your bee related questions.

Craft activities

10am – 3pm

Make your own decoupaged plate and decorate it with wildflowers and foliage.

Seed Sowing

10am – 3pm

Plant your own wildflower seeds with one of our garden team and learn about how we successfully have introduced wildflower areas on park and how it has increased biodiversity.

Closing the loop

10am – 3pm

Join our WONDER warden who will explain what happens to our waste. Owners can pick up a food waste bin free of charge to help with composting separation.

Scavenger Hunt

10am-12noon

Pick up one of our rainbow scavenger hunt boards and enjoy the hunt. All finds must be from the Pinewoods park or Wells Beach. We will be giving out 3 prizes for the most intriguing discoveries!

At the lake

Pond dipping

10am – 12 noon

Discover what’s lurking in the lake in our drop in session. Meet at the boardwalk.

On the Beach

Seal Awareness

10am – 1pm

BDMLR will be answering questions and raising awareness for seals on Wells Beach based at Beach hut 40.

RNLI Water Safety

10am – 3pm 

Meet one of our Wells crew who will advise on water safety on Wells Beach.
