Join us for a day of fun free family activities designed to help you learn about the WONDERful wildlife we have across the park, how we are boosting biodiversity and inspire little minds!

From ponding dipping to planting, deer to decoupage there’s something for everyone, have a browse of our events schedule and see what takes your fancy!

Reception Courtyard

 

Marvellous moths

10am – 3pm

Join Senior Nature Reserve Wardens Andy and Paul along with Pinewoods Warden Moff to discover what landed in our moth traps overnight.

Get Creative – Spoon Decorating

10am – 3pm

Discover the creativity at your fingertips as you upcycle wooden spoon and turn it into something beautiful, using your choice of dried flowers, stencils, bows, lace and colouring materials.

Buzzing bees

10am – 3 pm

Visit our hives with our beekeeper to learn more about how bees make honey. There will be a hive on display in the Reception Courtyard and a chance to sample various honeys with the opportunity to purchase via the Pinewoods store. Catherine our beekeeper will be available to answer all of your bee related questions.

Bloomers Big bug hunt with Nature Reserve Warden, Andy Bloomfield

Session begins at 11am 

Meet at the Courtyard Reception before you head out on an adventure around the Park to see what (not so) creepy crawlies you can find. Learn all about what roles they play and how important biodiversity is to keep our green spaces thriving.

Walk on the wild side with Jake Fiennes

3pm – 4pm

Join Head of Conservation at Holkham, Jake Fiennes for a conversation on all things conservation, soil health, farming and more!

Seed Sowing

10am – 3pm

Plant your own wildflower seeds with one of our garden team and learn about how we successfully have introduced wildflower areas on park and how it has increased biodiversity.

Cooking demonstration

10am – 3pm

Join Head Chef at The Vic, Michael Chamberlain, for fabulous al fresco cooking demonstrations on a BBQ, you might even be lucky enough to snag a taster or two!

10am – 3pm

Say hello to the friendly faces who make up our WONDER crew, members of the Pinewoods team who are always searching for sustainable solutions.

Gamekeeping

10am – 3pm

Say hello to Holkham’s Gamekeepers and learn all about the herd of Fallow Deer that call Holkham home.

Composting at Pinewoods

 10am – 3pm

Learn all about the where the food waste goes at Pinewoods after it leaves your plates and ends up as conservation in our soil!

 

Into the woods… 

Owl pellet dissection station

10am – 3pm

Get your hands dirty and discover what our feathered friends had for dinner at our owl pellet dissection station.

Name that bird competition

10am – 3pm

Test your bird of prey knowledge at our bird id competition and win a prize.
