If you go down to the Pinewoods shop today… you’re in for a treat. As well as your usual selection of groceries and essentials (many locally sourced), you’ll also find some interesting gifts, knickknacks and treats made by very talented local artisans. Our shop supervisor, Ghretta, delves deeper and tells us about a new range in stock by Hazel Ashley – an artist living in Wells-next-the-Sea. You may recognise her work if you’ve ever attended Wells Carnival, as her designs have made the programme cover for many years.
Ghretta says: “I had the pleasure of meeting Hazel Ashley recently and she is pleased that Pinewoods is stocking her mugs. Hazel has designed a new range of mugs, fridge magnets, keyrings and coasters which are now all in the shop. In addition, her 2022 calendar (now in its 13th year!) is nostalgic featuring paintings of Wells, the quay, beach and pinewoods, and along with the tea towels, Hazel’s artwork is instantly recognisable as bright and vivacious and all Norfolk based. Hazel has been retired for some time now, but just can’t put down the brushes. We also have two of her original paintings in the shop, just waiting to find a new home!”
So, for a lasting memory of your time here in Wells-next-the-Sea every time you sit down for a cup of tea, open the fridge, or unlock the door, Hazel’s delightful designs should be your go-to products from the shop. Find out more about Hazel and her products on her website.
