People who have never visited North Norfolk will often have misconceptions of it being flat, windy and old-fashioned. How wrong they are! As a county, we have more returning holidaymakers than most other areas of the country, and our tourism economy is bigger and stronger than that of Cornwall’s. Not a surprising fact to those who have fallen in love with our incredible patch of the world.

We have it all – expansive beaches, rich wildlife, leafy green countryside, heritage, cosmopolitan shopping, dark skies perfect for stargazing, and one of the most vibrant local foodie scenes in the UK. You’ll find microbreweries, cheese makers, bakeries, farm shops, delis, greengrocers and more at every turn, and that’s not to mention the burgeoning viticulture scene gaining traction here (our climate is just perfect for grapes). Walkers and cyclists love North Norfolk for our eclectic mix of coast path, country lanes, cycleways and footpaths. Bird watchers often trek the length and breadth of the country to see a rare species spotted on the Holkham National Nature Reserve or nearby RSPB reserve. And families come here for lazy beach days and great days out at our many family attractions.

Heritage is everywhere you look. From nearby iconic Holkham Hall – a Palladian masterpiece – to the stunning halls and houses of Blickling, Felbrigg, Houghton and Sandringham, to name but a few. Most are open year round, and offer an interesting and memorable day out. And the fact that each boasts an amazing café is a bonus! You’ll also find interesting museums and art and craft galleries along the entirety of the coast road, thanks to our lively creative scene.

Explore our numerous quaint coastal and inland villages and you’ll discover skyscapes dotted with historic churches (we have more than anywhere north of the Alps!) and lanes flanked by pretty cottages with flint and brick walls and Dutch gable ends. Towns such as Holt and Burnham Market offer excellent shopping with their array of boutiques and independent shops, and the medieval city of Norwich is only an hour away. We recommend spending a day in Norwich and visiting the cathedral, the many museums, shopping at Jarrolds and along the Norwich Lanes, and grabbing a drink in one of the city’s many pubs or a bite to eat on St Benedicts Street.
