Launderette

Our launderettes have both washers and dryers and are open from 8am to 8pm. Last wash is at 7pm. Tokens can be bought at Reception for £3.50 each.

Children’s Play Area

Opening times vary due to the time of year. Somewhere safe to let off steam; our safely enclosed on-site play area is designed for children under 16 years of age.

The Lake

Once open to the sea, Abraham’s Bosom is now a unique enclosed brackish water lagoon in the centre of the park and situated in a Site of Special Scientific Interest. This area is a haven for wildlife and many species flourish here. We’d really recommend exploring here – just take the boardwalk accessed from the west of the lake.

This is not new for us – with our fragile, natural surroundings, conservation has been an essential part of what we do for many years. Since 1997 we have been the proud holders of the David Bellamy Conservation Gold Award. And we also achieved the David Bellamy award for being a Honey Bee Friendly park. In 2021 we are proud to have applied for the Green Tourism award scheme. This scheme is designed to encourage people to visit natural areas and minimise the impacts of tourism on the environment.

You too have a very important role to play on this sustainability journey – here are some tips on how you can help.

Conserving Energy

Reduce energy by switching off lights and electrical appliances when not in use and closing the windows if heating is on.

Give the car a rest

Leave the car behind, if only for one day. Instead of driving into Wells, you can enjoy the breath-taking 15-minute walk along the beach bank. There are many other beautiful local walks around this part of the Norfolk coast. One of our favourites is the leisurely stroll along Wells beach to nearby Holkham beach and then turning south into Holkham Park.

If you are feeling a bit more energetic, you can hire a bike from Holkham’s Cycle Hire Centre or Wells Bike Hire and explore the surrounding area which includes the Sustrans National Cycle Route 1.

To explore further afield, our local bus service runs along the coast from King’s Lynn and Hunstanton to Sheringham and stops at Wells Quay. For bus times see traveline.info

Reduce waste

Please sort your waste into recyclable and non-recyclable waste and put in the right bin in the refuse area. The bins are clearly labelled.

Be water wise

Turn off the water whilst brushing your teeth or shaving, don’t run the dishwasher or washing machine until it’s full, try to take shorter showers.

Respect nature

Help us to look after the landscape and wildlife by not littering, picking up after your dog, guarding against fire, being responsible with BBQs and using footpaths and cycle ways responsibly.

With its row of pretty beach huts, Wells beach is one of the most iconic in the country. At low water, you’ll find mile upon mile of sands and shallow channels to enjoy. When the tide comes in, the beach is transformed into a harbour, with the channel suddenly busy with visiting yachts, fishing boats setting out for the day or returning with their catch, local small boats going out to fish as well as clouds of small sailing boats racing or cruising within the channel.

At the eastern edge of the beach is Wells RNLI lifeboat station which houses both an all-weather lifeboat and a small, fast inshore lifeboat. 

For all visitors’ safety, the beach is watched during the peak season by RNLI lifeguards and by volunteers at the Coastwatch lookout. If you fancy a swim, an area in front of the main beach away from moving boats is marked off by yellow buoys and clearly identified on the maps on the way to the beach.

For safety, always remember to check tide times and be sure to return to the beach-side of the main channel when the warning siren sounds or around four hours before high water. Please see signs and other notices posted at the beach entrance for more information. 

Please note that dogs are not permitted on the first 200 yards of beach from the main entrance and need to be kept on a lead in other areas. Please check the signs as you come onto the beach. Keep your dog under close supervision and control and clean up after your dog using the many dog waste bins provided in the car park and along the track in the pine woods.

Evacuate the caravan and ensure all people in your party are accounted for.

Call the emergency services (Fire Brigade) on 999 immediately and inform them that LPG vessels are on the premises and people are in danger.

Give them your area and pitch number, for example Avocet 92 at Pinewoods, NR23 1DR.

The gas supply should be turned off, if practical and safe to do so.

Please sound the alarm which can be found at fire points around the Park. Fire points contain fire extinguishers and their locations are marked on the park maps in a red circle.

Adjacent static or touring caravans/motorcaravans must be evacuated and people instructed to stay in a safe place.

If you have a tourer, please do not attempt to hook up your caravan and tow away, you should evacuate the area on foot.

Do not attempt to return to the caravan to collect any valuables.

All Holiday Home users and Touring and Motorhome customers and their guests are required to comply with our park rules. The person named as the hirer is responsible for ensuring that your party and any visitors understand and adhere to these rules and all safety, emergency and evacuation procedures. The Management reserves the right to refuse admission to the park or any part thereof or to require the removal from the park of any person(s) who may have contravened these rules.

All Holiday Home customers and their guests should be aware of flood risk (inundation by the sea), fire risk and comply with all safety, emergency and evacuation procedures. 

Between Monday and Friday, caravan holiday homes are delivered and sited. For your own safety, please proceed with caution when caravans are being moved and follow advice from banksmen/signs on alternative routes.

The caravan holiday home must not be used for sleeping a number of persons greater than the capacity of the Holiday Home as stipulated in your booking or your Licence Agreement.

Any fixed ventilation in the holiday home must not be obstructed, blocked over or replaced by closable type vents.

Refuse must not be left or deposited outside your holiday home. Please use the refuse and recycling bins provided and as directed.

No fuels or combustible materials other than LPG may be stored on the park. All gas bottles must be located OUTSIDE the holiday home in a secure upright position.

The lighting of fires is not permitted on any areas of Pinewoods Holiday Park, the beach car park, the pine woods, the dunes, beach and foreshore.

Properly constructed non-disposable barbecues may be used on the park providing they are used in a safe manner. Disposable BBQs may NOT be used on the park.

The use of firearms, air guns, fireworks, paper lanterns or similar is not permitted on any areas of the park, beach car park, pine woods or beach.

The use of engine driven generators is not permitted.

Due to our location, we operate a “dark skies” policy to comply with planning permissions and to minimise light pollution. For your safety, please use a torch.

You must not park more than one car at your holiday home except where parking areas are provided by the roadside. You should park at the door side of your holiday home. Car passes are available from Reception and must be displayed on the windscreen of all vehicles brought onto the park by holiday home guests.

Vehicles should only be driven on the park to gain access to and from your holiday home and must only be driven by licensed drivers. Unless you need to do so because you or one of your guests has limited mobility, you must not drive cars around the park for any purpose, such as visiting other locations on the park.

All cars, bicycles, dinghies and boats etc and their contents are brought to and used on the park at their owner’s risk.

Vehicle speed must not exceed 10mph and pedestrians and cyclists must be given priority. Any guests who persistently break this speed limit will not be allowed to drive on the park and may be requested to leave the park.

Drivers must adhere to the same driving standards as required by law.

No commercial vehicles are permitted on the park.

The servicing/repairing or washing of cars on the park is prohibited.

Children are the responsibility of their parents or guardians at all times. No games may be played in the vicinity of the holiday home and ball and other games are permitted only in the areas set aside for recreation. Kites must not be flown on the park.

Dogs (other than any breeds subject to the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991) are allowed at Pinewoods Holiday Park (where permitted in hired holiday home). In hired units, dogs are not allowed on seating or beds. No other animals or pets are allowed on the park.

Any dog you bring must be supervised by and under the control of you, or a responsible adult in your party, at all times. This means you may not leave your dog unsupervised in the holiday home or anywhere on the park at any time. Nor may you leave any dog under the supervision of any person under 18.

Dogs must be kept on a short lead at all times. They must not be allowed to foul the areas around holiday homes. In the event of your dog fouling please clean up after it. Your dog’s behaviour must not cause any nuisance, undue noise or disturbance. Holiday home guests who break these rules may be refused permission to bring their dogs to the park.

All dogs must be kept under control on the National Nature Reserve and beach. You must ensure that your dog does not go into any fenced area on the beach, the dunes, the pine woods or beside any of the Holkham car parks. Note that dogs will need to be on leads in some areas and at certain times of the year.

All portable canvas windbreaks must be taken down each night.

The digging of holes, soakaways or drainage ditches is prohibited. Please do not allow your children to dig up earth or sand on the park.

Noise should be kept to the minimum between the hours of 11pm and 9am with absolute quiet between 12 midnight and 8.00am. Any antisocial behaviour should be reported to Security.

Guests to the park must not cause a nuisance or annoyance, nor allow other people using their holiday home to cause a nuisance or annoyance to any other person(s) using the park. Any person causing such a nuisance or annoyance could be asked to leave the Park.

We reserve the right to terminate a holiday without compensation where unreasonable behaviour of the holiday party, their guests and/or their dogs might impair the enjoyment or comfort of other guests.

Holiday Homes must be vacated by 10am on the day of departure.

We expect that the holiday home is left at the end of your holiday in the same condition as when you arrived. Please report any damage, shortages or breakages to Reception as soon as possible. If a holiday home is found in an unreasonable state at the end of a hire, we may claim repair costs and not accept a repeat booking. We define this as a state that requires “specialist cleaning” or “replacement of furniture/upholstery or carpet due to damage”.

If we feel your behaviour is illegal, offensive, disruptive or inappropriate we will ask you to leave the park.

All customers are required to comply with the terms and conditions of your booking.

Park Management reserves the right to amend or add to the park rules at any time.

Check In

Arrival depending on grade is 2pm or 4pm. Please check your booking confirmation.

Check Out

Departure is 10am for all grades. Late departures available subject to availability for an additional charge, ask reception for details.

Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarms

Your holiday home is fitted with both a smoke alarm and carbon monoxide alarm for your safety. If either alarm gives a continuous tone you must evacuate immediately and contact Reception or Security.

If cooking accidentally sets the smoke alarm off, press the button in the middle of the alarm to quieten it for a short period. The alarm will then issue several beeps and return to its normal operation.

If either alarm is making short beeps, we will need to replace the batteries or the whole alarm. Please let us know via Reception or Security and we’ll sort this out for you.

Central Heating

Please use the dial or digital control on the thermostat to control the temperature. This is found either in the lounge, hallway or master bedroom. To help save energy please do not have the heating on and windows open at the same time!

Gas Supply

You’ll see that your holiday home has a twin gas cylinder supply and an automatic changeover valve. There is no need for you to touch this, in fact we ask you to please not touch! Our team will check your gas regularly and change it when necessary so there is always gas available for your use. If you have any issues please let Reception or Security know.

Fire

The north Norfolk weather can be rather bracing, but you can get cosy by the fire in your lounge area.

Electric Fires – The main switch for this is either nearby on the wall or in the cupboard. You can turn the fire on and off using the remote control but be aware that there is just one heat setting and the temperature cannot be changed.

Cooker

Gas Hob – This is a normal domestic type and works in the same way. The ignition button is on the wall nearby and ensure this is switched on before you turn a selected knob anti-clockwise to the low flame position and hold in.

Press the ignition button then turn the knob to the desired heat. To turn off the burner turn the control knob fully clockwise.

Grill – Use the same procedure as the hob to light the grill. Ensure the grill door is kept open when in use.

Outside Light

You’ll find the light switch next to the main light switch at the front door. Please turn off the light when not in use, and always turn off overnight, to save energy and to stop it annoying your neighbours!

Barbecues

Due to the high fire risk, disposable barbecues are not permitted. Properly constructed barbecues are permitted, but please stay safe by ensuring it is not sitting directly on the ground, it is away from anything flammable and ensuring that it is completely extinguished and cooled down before moving when you’ve finished.

Dogs

We welcome your four-legged friends and hope that they enjoy their holiday at Pinewoods too! A few house rules though – please keep your dog off all furniture and beds, do not leave them alone in your holiday home, and please ensure they are kept on a lead at all times when out on the park. We have designated dog waste bins located throughout the park and along the coastal path.

As part of WONDER – our estate wide sustainability and conservation action plan, we are taking great strides to reduce the amount of waste we all send to landfill and incineration, and in doing so vastly increasing recycling rates. Please ensure you separate your recycling from general waste and place in the appropriate bin in the refuse area.

There is our free wifi that can be used for basic browsing and emails, to log in please find ‘Pinewoods Free Web Browsing’ and enter the password pinewoods (all lower case and no spaces). Alternatively, you can upgrade to the streaming service, for an extra charge. Please select ‘Pinewoods Streaming Wifi’ this will then take you to a sign up page where you can select how many days/devices and this will then give you a cost. Once signed up you will then be given your unique log in code to use. 

We aim to offer an uninterrupted service but sometimes, due to factors beyond our control, reliability can be affected particularly during peak periods. For further information please refer to the Wi-Fi terms and conditions or call Reception or Security.

If you are able to use your own facilities in your unit, please do so as much as possible as this will help us manage demand and queuing.

Our usual key cards will not be required to access communal areas in the facility blocks.

Our cleaning team will be cleaning the facility blocks regularly between 6am- 6pm.

Toilet blocks will be closed to enable a deeper clean to take place, please use the alternative block.

If you will need access to the accessible or family facilities during your stay please advise Reception in advance so your key card can be programmed accordingly as these facilities will be kept locked.

Children under 12 should not use the facility blocks without an adult.

Arrival and departure times

Please help us by arriving no earlier than 1pm and vacate your pitch by 11am on the day of departure as usual.

Checking-in procedure

Check-in will take place at Reception during our opening hours. Outside of these hours our Security team will be available and based in Reception. You will receive a park map upon check-in.
