A greener future at Pinewoods

We were delighted to receive the Green Tourism Gold Award earlier in the year showing our commitment to sustainability across the park and wider estate.

We’ve now had our first owner purchase of an All-E holiday home and are awaiting a new Willerby Dorchester All-E which will replace the existing one on our hire fleet. You can find details of this caravan here. This is fully electrified removing the need for gas!

We are continuing to collaborate with manufacturers to assist with forward development where we can and are trialing Swift’s fully electric Ardennes with the addition of a battery and solar panels which is a first of its kind, receiving great guest feedback. We’ve proven this works on 16-Amp pitches through careful battery management planning, meaning that it may be more feasible for other parks without access to 32-Amp connections. We’ve had a particularly sunny summer, so we’re looking forward to gaining some more data as we head into winter, but with grid backup, this will enable a constant source of power.

We’re continuing to decarbonise across the wider park with the use of Futuria DME gas; a clean gas likened to LPG[1], which is used to heat water for our touring facility blocks.

The next project we’re excited about is working with Swift to reduce emissions of our lodges with the ultimate aspiration of a fossil fuel free lodge. This will hopefully prove fruitful and enable us to roll out further if successful.
