The tide is high

Look out for local tides

It is lovely to welcome our owners and guests back to Pinewoods and reassuring to feel we are starting to get back to some sort of normality. I have worked within the Pinewoods reception team for the last five years and I have really enjoyed getting to know some of you throughout this time.

In December 2018, I joined Wells Coastguard Search & Rescue team, this is a volunteer role. I am very lucky that the management team at Pinewoods allow me to leave work when we receive a call out.

This can be anything from people cut off by the tide to a medical emergency along our coastline to missing children on the beaches. This really has become something of a passion and in September 2019 I was promoted to Deputy Station Officer. This was swiftly followed by qualifying as an Office in Charge in April 2021, meaning take charge of our team when we are on duty.

I would like to remind everyone to check tide times when heading out for a walk on the beach or marshes and would like to emphasise that the tide can be extremely unpredictable. We would like everyone who visits our coastline to have a safe and enjoyable day, but if you do find yourself in trouble, dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard.

Thanks
